PALILULA GREEN MARKET RECONSTRUCTION

Work on the reconstruction of one of the oldest markets in town, the Green Market in Palilula, have started this weekend. As it was announced a month ago by the leaders of the City and Palilula Municipality, the investment at the site of Palilula Episkopska and Bozidarceva streets, will be realized within 50 days. Investors project the city of Nis, Novi Beograd Municipality and the PUC Market Niš, contractor "MD GIT" d.o.o. Niš. Contractors were visited by PhD Igor Novakovic, president of Palilula Municipality and Director of Public Utility Trznica Niš Nebojsa Petrovic and his associates.

New Palilula market will have about 100 stalls for about 30 more than in the current situation, also a new fence will be opened, roof, washrooms, a special section for dairy products and after market hours will be provided roll-fence. "When the opportunity arose, and improve weather PUC staff Markets have started clearing the market " Palilula " - said the director of Public utility Enterprise `Trznica Nis` Nebojsa Petrovic. The value of this investment is about RSD 10,323,270.16. City of Nis, as a partner in the project, provided the funds for a total of 7,057,181.16 dinars. Funding was approved by City Council on the proposal of the Department for economy, sustainable development and environmental protection- City of Nis after the tender the project was accepted "Reconstruction of the green Palilula market in Nis " of Palilula Municipality and Public Utility Enterprise `Trznica`. Palilula Municipality has provided funds for the preparation of the project and the PUC Market, as the developer, has set aside funds in the amount of 2,791,089.00 dinars.

Construction of our Market has finally begun, said the president Novakovic. What is even better here is that people are interested in renting business space at this location. In economic terms, this investment has proved to be extremely profitable. Now I can state that this place will be one of the most attractive locations for the agricultural workers of our community. The concept of Palilula markets, as well as open markets, facilitate the work in two shifts, until the late evening hours. According to the President Novakovic, modern market includes free access to it, and will be amended and the mode of transport in the surrounding streets, existing ring traffic and parking around the market. It is expected that the Bozidarceva street to Amerikanac restaurant and Starca Vujadina street in the area around traffic light to St Nikola Church will be one direction streets, as well as part around Episkopska street.

During the time of the works on Palilula Market, the stall of market sellers will be temporary dislocated to Cairska street by the railroad at the railroad terrain that Palilula got for using and without paying. The market taxes will not be requested form the sellers during the work duration.
